Have you ever wanted to ask about the glowing tower of plants in the waiting room, but just haven’t? Well here’s your chance (sort of)!
What is it?
It’s a Tower Garden. Literally, we are growing our garden “in” the office. We don’t have the time to hoe the earth, drop little seedlings into the ground, water them daily, and weed weekly. But, we did want to grow our own nutrient dense food. We believe what we eat is an important part of athletic performance and recovery.
Wait, you eat that?
Yep, that was the goal. And it is SO FLAVORFUL! There are about 3 of us who eat off of this regularly and sometimes, it grows faster than we can eat it. We use it in salads, add it in our morning smoothies, and make wraps.
What did you plant?
Mostly varieties of kale, we seem to love Kale the most. But we have types of Romaine, Butter Crunch (so good for a wrap), Swiss Chard, and Cilantro (that stuff grew out of control).
Can you grow tomatoes, cucumbers, or pumpkins?
We could, if our Tower Garden was outside. Those types of foods have a flowering phase. Flowers need bees for pollination. Bees are currently not permitted in the office.
Is that Hydroponics?
Good question! It’s actually the same technology NASA uses, Aeroponics. The plants are each in their individual shelf (rockwool) and the roots grow into the tower. Every hour the Tower Garden drips nutrient rich water over the roots for approximately 15 min.
Wait, I have more questions!
We love eating off of our Tower Garden and would love to answer any questions you have. Reach out on social media, reach out via email, or call us.
