How to Make Good Choices Through the Holidays

Americans on average gain eight pounds from Thanksgiving to New Years day. From holiday parties, to family gatherings there is a plethora of times that we may tempt us to cheat and have a ton of bad food during these next few months. Here are three ideas to help prevent that eight-pound gain:

  1. Don’t let these parties make excuses for other days. There are 37 days between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. Be good on the days where you don’t have parties or the holidays so you don’t feel bad if you eat unhealthy.

 

  1. Manage your portions. It is okay to have some bad food once in a while. Just make sure you limit your portion size on the bad foods and still have a few good choices on your plate.

 

  1. Stick to your workout routine. Just because the holidays are around does not mean you have to stop working out. Sticking to your routine and working out a little harder on days when you have plans will help some of those extra calories you ate.

 

We all know that the holidays can be a stressful and also fun time with family and gatherings but making some small decisions can help prevent that eight pound gain between the holidays and get you right going into 2021!
