We all know how the holidays can influence our decision making. We have all fallen victim to the savory meals and the sweets that follow. During the holidays it can be easy to give in and indulge in these things. In no way are we saying this is wrong…because even the team at SCI indulges. The holiday season begins with Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas/Hanukkah/etc, and ends with a big party, New Years. These are a few of our suggestions to keep your good habits through the holidays.
-Try to continue your morning routine throughout the holidays. Waking up a little later is perfectly okay, we are merely suggesting you accomplish the same tasks you normally would (reading, meditating, gym, drinking water, etc…).
-Setting limits on how much you indulge can be important. If you don’t set limits you could be setting yourself up for failure, because let’s face it…sugar is addicting.
-Staying active and setting small goals is our final key to keeping your good habits through the holidays. If you have an activity tracker most of them will allow you to challenge your friends…throw down the gauntlet and challenge your friends on days you might not get as much activity…Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Challenging your friends will keep you motivated to stay active, we are all a little competitive.
Keep in mind that the holiday’s aren’t supposed to be focused heavily on filling your stomach but more about surrounding yourself with the love of those around you.
